There’s never a bad time to walk your dog to or from a pub.

If you are one of the people visiting the areas surrounding Brigsteer who are looking for dog friendly walks, or better still a dog friendly Inn with nearby walks, then look no further than Wheatsheaf Inn. Use us as a welcoming base from which to get into the great outdoors, enjoy some fresh air and start or finish your walk with a pint or a meal from our excellent selection of menus.

Walking your dog in Lake District

Given we’re such a dog friendly hotel it’s lucky there are so many dog friendly walking options, pretty much on our doorstep.  Take the path North out of the village up to Scout Scar and then take your pick of walks with a view.  Head South towards Brigsteer Park and Sizergh Castle and enjoy this easy dog walking loop on woodland paths, with lots of interest for dog and walker along with some of the best views in this part of Southern Lakeland.

If any of that sounds tempting, then why not have a think about visiting us.

Seasonal dog walking tips

Whenever you are planning to walk, there are a few tips you should follow to make sure every adventure is a happy one. On shorter, darker days; Invest in some high viz for you and your dog and carry a dedicated torch.

When the days eventually get brighter and warmer, replace the high viz and torch with sunscreen and water (for you and the dog). Then, whenever you go remember that having a charged phone is a modern day essential, as is keeping your pooch on a lead, especially in open countryside.

Enjoy the walk and we’ll look forward to hearing all about it when you get back.
